Vol De Nuit

Filter

In his book Vol de Nuit (Night Flight), Antoine de St Exupery describes his personal experiences flying as an Airmail pilot overnight in the 1920s and 30s. With minimal equipment and rudimentary planes, he and other pilots were pioneers heading off no matter the risks. At Aeromat, we decided to name this collection “Vol de Nuit” in their honor and in reference to the legendary pilot that was St-Exupery.

In the spirit of night flying, we decided to add two red pushers to some models from the collection. This was done in reference to the PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator); a time-tested system of two white lights and two red lights to indicate if a plane is on the correct descent path. This is especially useful when landing in nighttime conditions.

About the Vol de Nuit Collection

The VDN takes cues from the 1930's pilots & their requirements. Visibility in all conditions and legibility was therefore paramount for this design. As our ambassador Eric Gilles puts it, this collection combines modern watch innovation with hints of nostalgia.
